How We Build
MARK'S TURNKEY ROAD
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
Building a private road or driveway on raw Texas land requires much more than just spreading gravel. To ensure your road doesn't sink into the clay, crack, or wash away during heavy rains, we follow a strict, multi-phase civil engineering process.

Phase 1
Site Preparation & Clearing
We begin by prepping the land to create a clean, stable path.
Right-of-Way Clearing
We clear away all brush, trees, and tall grass from the road path.
Clearing & Grubbing
We dig out underground stumps and roots so they don't rot and cause potholes later.
Topsoil Stripping
We scrape away the soft, organic topsoil until we reach the solid, stable subgrade dirt.
Phase 2
Earthwork & Drainage Setup
Water is the number one enemy of a road. We design the land to shed water safely.
Rough Grading
We shape the raw earth to establish the road's path, slopes, and curves.
Drainage Integration
We cut side ditches (swales) and install culvert pipes to direct rainwater away from your roadbed.
Subgrade Compaction
We pack the raw dirt foundation using heavy vibratory rollers to eliminate soft spots.
Phase 3
Base Work & Stabilization
This is the hidden backbone of your road that supports the weight of heavy vehicles.
Flexible Base Installation
We spread, water, and heavily compact layers of premium, TxDOT-grade crushed limestone.
Final Grading & Crown
We shape the top layer with a slight "crown" (higher in the middle) so rainwater immediately runs off to the side ditches.
Phase 4
Your Choice of Final Surface
Once your base is rock-hard and cured, we apply your chosen top layer:
Crushed Limestone / Caliche
Budget-friendly rural road — great for low-traffic ranch roads and farm lanes.
Tar & Chip / Chip Seal
Durable, beautiful Hill Country aesthetic — our most popular choice for driveways and ranch roads.
Hot-Mix Asphalt
Premium finish — smooth, clean, and long-lasting for high-traffic driveways and private roads.
